Insha Allah we will contemplate on some Ayat relating to Taqwa.
What is Taqwa? Briefly it means to fear Allah’s punishment and hope for His Mercy. If we elaborate on this we can say obeying Allah’s commandments and keeping away from what He has forbidden.
Volumes have being written by great scholars on this subject but this simple explanation will suffice here for our brief discussion on Taqwa. The few Ayah I have chosen will further enlighten us to the rewards awaiting those who have Taqwa.
“Beautified is the life of this world for those who disbelieve, and they mock at those who believe. But those who have Taqwa, will be above them on the Day of Resurrection. And Allah gives to whom He wills without limit.” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2: 212)
“Beautified for men is the love of things they covet; women, children, Qanatir Al-Muqantarah (stored up heaps) of gold and silver, branded beautiful horses (Musawwamah), cattle and fertile land. This is the pleasure of the present world's life; but Allah has the excellent return with Him.
Say: "Shall I inform you of things far better than those For those who have Taqwa there are Gardens (Paradise) with their Lord, underneath which rivers flow. Therein (is their) eternal (home) and Azwajun Mutahharatun (purified mates or wives). And Allah will be pleased with them. And Allah is All-Seer of the servants.” (Surah Al-Imran 3: 14 and 15)
“Let not the free disposal (and affluence) of the disbelievers throughout the land deceive you. A brief enjoyment; then their ultimate abode is Hell; and worst indeed is that place for rest. But, for those who have Taqwa of their Lord, are Gardens under which rivers flow (in Paradise); therein are they to dwell, an entertainment from Allah; and that which is with Allah is the best for Al-Abrar (the most righteous)”. (Surah Al-Imran 3: 196-198)
“Verily those who have Taqwa when an evil thought comes to them from Shaitan, they remember Allah and they then see (aright)” (Surah Al-A’raf 7: 201)
“And We sent not before you (as Messengers) any but men unto whom We revealed, from among the people of townships. Have they not travelled in the land and seen what was the end of those who were before them And verily, the home of the Hereafter is the best for those who have Taqwa. Do you not then understand?” (Surah Yusuf 12: 109)
“The description of the Paradise which those who have Taqwa have been promised: Underneath it rivers flow, its provision is eternal and so is its shade; this is the end (final destination) of those who have Taqwa, and the end (final destination) of the disbelievers is Fire.” (Surah Ar-Ra’d 13: 35)
“And (when) it is said to those who had Taqwa (piety and righteousness), ''What is it that your Lord has revealed'' They say: "That which is good.'' For those who do good in this world, there is good, and the home of the Hereafter will be better. And excellent indeed will be the home (i.e. Paradise) of those who have Taqwa.” (Surah An-Nahl 16: 30)
“Is, then one against whom the Word of punishment is justified (equal to the one who avoids evil) Will you rescue him who is in the Fire. But those who have Taqwa of their Lord, for them are built lofty rooms, one above another under which rivers flow. (This is) the promise of Allah, and Allah does not fail in (His) promise.” (Surah Az-Zumar 39: 19-20)
“And on the Day of Resurrection you will see those who lied against Allah - their faces will be black. Is there not in Hell an abode for the arrogant. And Allah will deliver those who have Taqwa to their places of success. Evil shall touch them not, nor shall they grieve” (Surah Az-Zumar 39: 60-61)
“And those who had Taqwa will be led to Paradise in groups till when they reach it, and its gates will be opened and its keepers will say: "Salam `Alaykum (peace be upon you)! You have done well, so enter here to abide therein forever.''
And they will say: "All the praises and thanks be to Allah Who has fulfilled His promise to us and has made us inherit the land. We can dwell in Paradise where we will; how excellent a reward for the workers!” (Surah Az-Zumar 39: 73-74)
O you who believe! Have Taqwa of Allah as is His due, and die not except as (true) Muslims” (Surah Al-Imran 3: 102)
O Allah make us amongst those who have Taqwa and die as Muslims Ameen!
