| Sharing some Ayat and Ahadith on the Islamic Greeting Ayat for the Qu'ranWhen you are greeted with a greeting, greet in return with what is better than it, or (at least) return it equally. Certainly, Allah is Ever a Careful Account Taker of all things. (Surah An-Nisa' 4: 86)
O you who believe! Enter not houses other than your own, until you have asked permission and greeted those in them; that is better for you, in order that you may remember. (Surah An-Nur 24:27)
……….But when you enter the houses, greet one another with a greeting from Allah, blessed and good. Thus Allah makes clear the Ayat to you that you may understand. (Surah An-Nur 24: 61 part)If the Muslim greets you with the Salam, then return the greeting with a better Salam, or at least equal to the Salam that was given. Therefore, the better Salam is recommended, while returning it equally is an obligation. (Tafsir ibn Kathir) Imam Ahmad recorded that Abu Raja' Al-`Utaridi said that `Imran bin Husayn said that a man came to the Messenger of Allah and said, "As-Salamu `Alaykum''. The Prophet returned the greeting, and after the man sat down he said, "Ten.''
Another man came and said, "As-Salamu `Alaykum wa Rahmatullah, O Allah's Messenger.'' The Prophet returned the greeting, and after the man sat down he said, "Twenty.''
Then another man came and said, "As-Salamu `Alaykum wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatuh.'' The Prophet returned the greeting, and after the man sat down he said, "Thirty.'' This is the narration recorded by Abu Dawud. At-Tirmidhi, An-Nasa'i and Al-Bazzar also recorded it.
Abu Hurairah (Radhi Allahu Anhu) reported: The Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi wa Sallam) said, "By Him in Whose Hand is my life! You will not enter Jannah until you believe, and you will not believe until you love one another. Shall I inform you of something which, if you do, you will love one another? Promote greetings amongst yourselves.'' [Muslim]. The way I look at it, every time someone reads our Salams (As Salamu Alaikum) on forums or emails, we are rewarded with 10 good deeds and at the same time spreading love amongst ourselves. A very simple and easy way to increase our weight on the scales on the Day of Judgment. “Then as for him whose balance (of good deeds) will be heavy. He will live a pleasant life (in Paradise.) But as for him whose Balance (of good deeds) will be light. He will have his home in Huwiyah. (Blazing Fire) (Surah Al-Qariah 101:6-9)Something to think about?????? May We be amongst those whose balance is heavy and get their Book of Deeds in their Right Hand Ameen | |
