As Salamu Alaikum

Many men, if they have women with them, hold hands with one another during tawaaf and form a ring around the women who are with them so that some of them end up doing tawaaf with their backs to the Ka’bah or with the Ka’bah on their right.
Praise be to Allaah.

This matter is serious on the one hand and harmful on the other. It is harmful because if they come like that all together, they harm the people and it is known that it is not permissible for anyone to deliberately harm or annoy the Muslims.

As for its seriousness, that is because, as the questioner says, some people end up doing tawaaf with their backs to the Ka’bah or with the Ka’bah in front of them. One of the conditions of tawaaf is that you should walk with the Ka’bah on your left. If you walk with your back to it or with it on your right or in front of you, then tawaaf is not valid. End quote.

Majmoo’ Fataawa Ibn ‘Uthaymeen, 22/287, 288
